Trends in Custom Designed Wedding Rings in 2020
Todays brides are expressing their personalities by wearing wedding rings that are far from the traditional diamond solitaire. Diamond solitaires have been worn in America for over 100 years. That tradition paired with a wedding band are all basically good marketing and not the law.
In 2020, we have more options to play with bridal design. Technology has changed the way todays bride thinks and what expresses her style. CAD/CAM technology allows for more detailed design possibilities and more efficient production time.
There is also an interest in untraditional metal colors such as rose gold which is being set with colored gemstones as well as diamonds. For example, pink sapphire and the current popular Morganite are so feminine and soft when set in rose gold. We have also made several wedding rings with opals set in rose gold.
We have also seen a renewed interest in fancy shape diamonds like ovals and marquise shapes.Oval is the new round! These two shapes work especially nice when designed with other gemstones or set in the ever popular halo design.
Colored gemstones are increasingly more popular either as a featured gemstone solitaire or paired with diamonds. Traditionally the Europeans have worn single colored gemstone wedding rings with no wedding bands. (Think Diana or now Catherine the Duchess.) Organic stones are also more popular such as Black Diamonds. slab cut Diamonds and "Salt & Pepper" included diamonds.
Each bridal design consultation is different and custom design is changing the way todays bride looks at the ring of their dreams! Each woman we work with has a unique style they want to show when they say "I do".
