Do You Take Your Jewelry Off When You Get Home?

We are always asked how to take care of jewelry, how to clean jewelry and how to keep it in good shape for years to come. I am going to share my knowledge in order to help you take care of your cherished pieces of jewelry.

1. DO YOU TAKE YOUR JEWELRY OFF WHEN YOU GET HOME?

This question usually makes people pause. But let's face it ladies, we are active and don't sit down all day and have tea and crumpets! We are shopping, traveling, doing housework, cooking, washing and taking care of family and the yard and the pets!

This habit will save you money on jewelry repairs, give your jewelry longevity and keep it clean. Pick a place that is consistent and out of the way of house traffic and safe from viewpoint. I get home and put down my purse and keys and take off my jewelry. Then in the morning, I know where it is and it is the last thing I put on before leaving the house.

Wearing jewelry 24/7 accelerates wear and tear on jewelry. It is made with precious metal and stones but jewelry wears out. Sleeping in your jewelry stretches and breaks chains and wears out prongs in rings.

Jewelry needs to be cleaned just like everything else. I have seen some biohazards! Have you ever heard the term "watch cheese'? You don't want to experience that! Trust me!

WARNING!! WARNING!! WARNING!!

2. DO NOT WRAP JEWELRY IN TISSUES OR PAPER TOWELS EVER!!!!!!!!

Do not wrap jewelry in tissues or paper in your purse or in your home. I constantly hear people tell us about jewelry that was thrown away because it was wrapped up. Heart breaking!
